JOB SUMMARY:

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Certification as a Personal Care Worker, Continuing Care Assistant or Home Health Provider is required

- Nursing experience in a long-term care facility

- Good interpersonal skills

- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis

- Good oral and written communication skills

- Ability to work shift work

- Alzheimer and Other Related Dementia Provincial Certificate required

- Demonstrated ability to work with residents with Alzheimer Disease and other related Dementia

Job Summary:

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas of the Home in a sanitary condition. This includes maintaining a floor care program, through deep cleaning, as well as day-to-day activities.

General Duties:

• Receives and organizes supplies and equipment,
• Collects and disposes of garbage,
• Performs appropriate cleaning and disinfecting procedures on all assigned areas,
• Cleans and replenishes supplies in resident and non-resident washrooms,
• Responsible for draperies and privacy curtains in assigned areas,
• Transfers residents' personal belongings when moving to another room or leaving the Home,
• Responsible for the routine cleaning of equipment,
• Reports all necessary repairs and equipment malfunctions as per the home's policy and procedures,
• Cleans soiled linen rooms,
• Is familiar with the home's Policies, Procedures, Fire and Safety, and Emergency Procedures and carries out guidelines of same,
• Attends staff education sessions as required,
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum completion of Grade Twelve (12) required,
• Knowledge and ability to operate and use institutional Floor Care equipment,
• Must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills,
• Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis,
• Must be comfortable working around seniors.

Hours of Work: 8hr shifts - Weekends / Days / Evenings / Holidays. On call availability/flexibility.

Job Summary:

The Cook is responsible for food preparation and service of meals in accordance with the menu. Maintains high standard of safety and sanitation in cleaning of equipment and work areas. Provides staff training, guidance, and supervises as required. Assists in planning menus and prepares caterings as required.

Qualifications:

- Grade Twelve (12) required or equivalent.

- Recent completion of National Sanitation Program including working knowledge and experience in HACCP procedures.

- Working knowledge of WHMIS legislation.

- Experience working in maintaining a safe & sanitary work environment.

- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.

- Knowledge of therapeutic and familiar with dietary requirements of geriatric resident

- Previous institutional experience preferred

Job Summary:

The Diet Aide is responsible for the assembly, delivery and service of food and supplies to assigned areas. Responsible for maintaining all assigned areas and equipment in sanitary condition.

General Duties:

- Responsible for all components of meal service to assigned areas, as outlined in the job routine

- Prepared and assembles special trays, beverages and food according to job routine

- Counts and replenishes stock items as required

- Maintains a clean work area

- Reports all necessary repairs and equipment malfunctions

- Responsible to ensure all dietary requirements are adhered to

- Ensures all food handling and HACPP procedures are followed

- Cleans all equipment, dishes, pots & pans and areas assigned, according to guidelines

- Follows all WHMIS guidelines when using and dispensing chemicals

- Receives, stores and rotates food and supplies as required

- Conducts inventory of supplies and products as required

- Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications:

- Minimum completion of Grade Twelve (12) required

- Experience in maintaining a clean and sanitary food service environment

- Preference to candidates who have recently completed the National Sanitation Program

- Knowledge and ability to operate and clean institutional equipment

- Working knowledge of WHMIS legislation

- Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis

Responsible for the organization and management of the nursing unit ensuring The Birches standards for quality care are maintained, under the direction of the Resident Care Manager.

Qualifications:

- Current registration with Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)

- Bachelor or Nursing Degree (preferred)

- Three (3) years geriatric nursing experience

- Demonstrated administrative experience and leadership skills

- Ability to work effectively as a contributing team member

- Demonstrated knowledge of the nursing process, nursing diagnosis, excellent clinical assessment skills and problem solving

- Demonstrated supervisory and interpersonal communication skills (written and oral)

- Ability to work 24-hour shift rotation on any nursing unit

- Knowledge and experience in Venipuncture (preferred)

- Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis

- Demonstrated ability to live the values of The Birches

Hours of Work: Days/Evenings/Nights: All Shift Hours - 12 hr / 8hr shifts. This is a union position; given the scope and responsibility of the role, there may be occasions where the Registered Nurse may be required to stay beyond this period.
